About Us

Villages in Action is a rural touring scheme that brings top quality professional arts events and professionally-run arts workshops to communities in Devon. We work with local volunteers to select and present an exciting programme of events right in the heart of our communities.

You’ll find theatre, dancing, circus, poetry, laughter, puppetry, and music from across the world in village halls, churches and community spaces (including outdoor!) Expect cups of tea, homemade cakes and a warm welcome wherever you go.

Thanks to our family of inspiring volunteers and funding from Arts Council England, we are delighted to present two seasons a year of extraordinary world class performances live in villages across Devon.

Booking information
Tickets are sold locally by volunteer promoters in each venue and by telephone, and some are sold online at www.villagesinaction.co.uk/events – see each listing for ticket information. Events do sell out, so advance booking is recommended.

Rural touring couldn’t work without our local volunteers. We are delighted to work in partnership with them, developing a rich menu of live entertainment for all on your doorstep.  And also a very big thank you to those stalwart funding partners Arts Council of England, East Devon, West Devon and Teignbridge District councils who ‘prime the pump’ for the engine that is Villages in Action’s amazing performances! Villages in Action is a charity and we work to enliven our villages with laughter, tears and drama.  We believe that collectively people can work effectively to enrich life with the arts.

Get involved – artists
Villages in Action usually offers two seasons per year – Autumn (Oct-Dec) and Spring (Feb-June). Each venue is able to book one show per season which we subsidise. We host two menu parties for each season – for autumn the party is usually in April and for the spring, in September. We work on putting the shows together for the menu in the weeks leading up to the menu party.

If you are interested in working with Villages in Action, please download and complete the Carn to Cove Artist info sheet and email it to claire@carntocove.org.uk, or give us a call on 01209 312500.

By completing this form, you are providing us with vital information about yourselves and your show and helping us to decide if we can include it in our menu. If we are able to include you, we will use this information to tell our village hall promoters all about you so please complete it as accurately as you can. Please note that Villages in Action is currently run by the Cornwall scheme, Carn to Cove, so submitting this form means you could be considered for both menus. Let us know if you are only interested in presenting work in Devon.
