ENHANCE 2015 was an opportunity for Villages in Action promoters to come together in locations across Devon.
Led by Kate Green, our Creative Communities Manager, working in partnership with Voluntary Arts England, the promoters shared ideas on best practice with the aim to improve further the great job they are doing as volunteer promoters in Devon villages.
In phase one, promoters looked at using social media to spread the word about their events, how to build a team of volunteers and explored new ideas for promoting and running events. In phase two, they discussed working in cluster groups to cross-promote, looked at the world of micro-volunteering to share their workload and discussed weird and wonderful marketing strategies to reach new audiences.
Feedback from these sessions showed that promoters were keen to have some hands-on experience of working with Facebook and Twitter and so promoters met in computer suites in various Devon libraries. Social Media novices went on the step-by-step journey to creating Facebook pages and Twitter accounts to broadcast all the #unmissable ViA events happening in their village.
