Due to the recent changes in our set-up and our activity, the way ViA works is currently under review. What follows is a description of how we have worked with young people in the past.
We supported young promoter groups to engage with the ‘behind the scenes’ world of music, dance and theatre performances, giving them the skills and confidence to promoter their own professional quality show in their local community.
Our Young Promoter teams chose acts from our menu and organised everything to make their event successful, including arranging publicity, selling tickets, putting out the chairs for the audience and selling refreshments in the interval.
The young promoters also met performers and had a chance to find out, first hand, about theatre and music production from the professionals. Young promoters in Dunkeswell were able to chat to Sophie Willan who wrote and performed The Novice Detective and the team at Axe Valley College met the actors from Le Nave Bete during their production of Once Upon a Time in a Western. The Young Promoters Scheme also supported young promoters to undertake their Arts Award at Bronze and Silver level.
